Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik Friday said that people of Jammu and Kashmir will resist with full might and force all designs aimed at changing the demography of the State by rolling back hereditary state subject laws of 1927.

JRL said that there is no alternative for the people of J&K other than resisting and protesting such designs and breach of trust by New Delhi to convey a strong message that people of J&K will not allow tinkering with the hereditary state subject law , as it is directly linked with the states disputed nature and the people’s struggle for right to self determination since the last 71 years.

In a joint statement the Leadership said that since the cases challenging Article 35 A were to be heard by the Indian supreme court on August 27 but have now been listed for August 31, JRL urges people to observe a complete protest strike on August 30 and 31 instead of August 26 and 27 , while protests and demonstrations in this regard by various segments of society will continue The leadership reiterated that any attempt at tampering with the state subject laws will result in a strong mass public agitation across all regions of the State and that the entire blame for any consequences will lie with New Delhi and present government in Jammu and Kashmir. They asked New Delhi not to push the situation to such a precipice.

They said people of J&K were keeping a close vigil on the developments and wouldn’t allow any sort of meddling with the said law basic to their existence either through courts or through other backdoor channels. Meanwhile, leadership paid rich tributes to an armed youth killed in an encounter at Vailoo Islamabad, stating that our youth are being forced to offer priceless sacrifice of life as New Delhi refuses to engage with the reality of the Kashmir dispute and the urgent need to resolve it.

The leadership condemned in strongest words the vandalism committed by forces at the residences of armed youth and misbehaving with their family members terming the act as state terrorism. They said that damaging the property of family of armed youth reflects the frustration on part of the forces which deserves all out condemnation.
